On the edge of the Mendip Hills in the village of Wookey Hole surrounded by classic walking country and stunning scenery, The Wookey Hole Inn from the outside retains a traditional pub appearance while the restaurant, rooms and ambiance appeal to couples, families and groups of all ages. The family-run free house is ideally situated close to the historic city of Wells, beautiful Ebbor Gorge and the many tourist attractions that Somerset has to offer. The bar offers a selection of draught continental beers, stocks the best traditional cider and local ales in the region, and all can be enjoyed in the walled sculpture garden. There are 5 spacious en-suite rooms with either a walk-in shower or free standing bath, all have comfortable king size beds, tea and fresh ground coffee making facilities and hairdryers. A limited number of camp beds are available to accommodate families. Pet owners are asked to provide bedding for their well behaved furry friends. There are three chefs who provide the restaurant with dishes that are freshly prepared using locally sourced produce to suit the seasons. Axbridge itself nestles at the foot of the Mendip Hills and looks out over the natural beauty of the Somerset Levels. The delightful Town Square lies at the heart of historic narrow medieval streets and is flanked by elegant town houses and a Georgian Town Hall. The Oak House is a shining example of Somerset accommodation, with comfortable en suite rooms offering all the modern amenities you would expect. Nearby are many places of interest - Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, Bath, Wells Cathedral and the beaches of Weston–super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea to name but a few – so after a day spent exploring the local area, relax and enjoy a drink in the cosy tranquillity of the well-stocked bar in front of the fire before enjoying the mouth-watering delights in the warmth and comfort of the Dining Room. We are very proud of our passion for good food and have two fine young chefs to deliver the excellence we believe all restaurants should. Their main aim is to get the tastiest food to you in its best condition while keeping as local as possible. Few can rival that unbeatable combination of outstanding hospitality and first class comfort, all delivered with genuine professionalism and a welcoming smile. Please note that our restaurant is closed Sunday and Monday evenings.
