Rooster News

At last weekend's Laser and Radial World Championship Qualifiers at Lowestoft, Rooster Pro Hikers took first overall in the Radial, first lady overall and first in the Standard Rig World Championship Qualifier - helped just a little by those who chose to wear them! Rooster Pro Hikers are different to others on the market as they utilise a very stiff shaped hike pad that gives the most 'lift' off the side deck, and equally the most support to the wearer, see the diagram below. Its no surprise that in the brutal choppy conditions at the weekend that those wearing Rooster Pro Hikers rose to the top.

You might be interested to know that Rooster do a wide range of sizes of Pro Hikers and you will be amazed to find that the Radial Fleet winner was wearing size small - short with medium hike pads (yes that was me), the first lady was wearing XS - Short with small hike pads and the standard fleet winner was wearing size small with medium hike pads. We really wish we had not named our sizes - since no one will call me small - but in relative terms - I am not a large or extra large sailor! We tend to sell Medium or large to Solo sailors and extra large to Finn and Phantom sailors. Be aware that our standard sizes are designed with tall athletic sailors in mind - so that's why I use size small short - as I am only 5'8"! The main difference with the short version is the shorter hip to knee measurement. With our range of other hiking garments that our hike pads will fit into such as the shin tech long john and neoprene shorts, you should not fail to find the right pair for the conditions and your size.

But if you prefer a simple life with gadgets you will be pleased to know that our Rooster Classics are also made from the most supple of neoprenes to give the wearer the most comfort. We have not skimped on the quality of fabric to hit a price bracket for any of our hikers as we feel sure that the most important piece of a hiking sailors kit is their hikers.

If you are confused about what style of hikers to take, or just want to see what the hiking system is all about, perhaps this short video link might help you out (see the video at the top of the page).
